Dinosaurs Still Roam Eastern Hungary
Who knew dinosaurs were still roaming around the earth…in Hungary. In eastern Hungary no less. That’s right, if you happen to be in Sóstó, a suburb of Nyíregyháza, then you might just want to stay the weekend at this really unique and one-of-a-kind hotel called Pangea.
Modern comfort from start to finish, the hotel offers continental breakfasts in the morning, and is connected to the famous Sóstó zoo which is right next door. Pangea offers guests signature themed rooms which are all themed. Some with gorillas, some with elephants – but the entire hotel is in the dinosaur ambiance.
Stepping Into Jurassic Park: The Hotel Experience

Stepping into what feels like a hotel straight out of Jurassic Park, the hotel is stylish, with a cocktail bar downstairs, an open windowed elevator to take you up and down to and from your floor, and a very western ambiance going on in general. Having lived in Nyíregyháza already for more than 10 years by the time I stayed the night here, I was really taken aback at how much I felt like I was in an American hotel rather than a Hungarian one.

And if the hotel’s décor weren’t enough, you will find raptors trying to eat each other in the back outside, in the children’s playground area. While sitting out on their patio downstairs you can also admire the distant view of the zoo, which as previously stated connects directly to the hotel. Make sure that when booking your trip to the zoo, you take advantage of the hotel so that you can get the most value for your pocket.
Premium Amenities That Surprise and Delight
I loved staying here, and enjoyed the amenities that the hotel offered. From themed walls and comforters in the room, to a personal popcorn machine you can use before watching your favorite show on TV in the evenings, to the beautiful terrace views.

I would highly recommend any type of guest to stay here, even for those without kids or aren’t looking to visit the zoo. It’s a particularly comfortable and modern approach to Hungarian tourism and it’s worth checking out.
Just make sure that when you do book your stay here at the Pangea, you let them know Lisa sent you!
