Ristorante Magreta – La Maddalena, Italy

Located on the archipelago known as La Maddalena, right off the island of Sardinia, Ristorante Magreta might just be the best food on the island.

The small town with the same name as its archipelago, in 2018 had a population of only 5,643 – and I was one of them.

And while there are certainly options to choose from as far as where to eat on the island, none of them really compared to Ristorante Magreta, at least for me.

With a fine selection of wines (emphasizing Sardinian choices), Ristorante Magreta boasts a mouthwatering seafood menu in addition to some heartier meat options. The restaurant, which is located in the heart of the town center, is a smaller in size dining establishment, busier usually in the evenings rather than in the afternoons, and has a lively yet romantic vibe in atmosphere.

Though the prices are far from budget-friendly (look to spend between $43-55 USD per plate), the quality is worthwhile, especially considering how fresh all the seafood is (given that La Maddalena is completely surrounded by water).

The owner is friendly, including the wait staff, and you can enjoy an evening summer stroll along the cobblestone streets before and after your enchanting meal here.

Just make sure that when you reserve your table, you let them know Lisa sent you!
