Oia’s Best Dining Experience
Looking for a chic place that offers casual ambiance and attire while in Oia? Why not try Thalami Restaurant? They not only have fantastic customer service, amazing atmosphere, but terrific food as well! I should know…I tried it all…
Welcome to Thalami, the perfect location during your summer vacation. Here in Santorini you can find dozens of different restaurants, bars and grills…but nothing quite like Thalami. With their wide selection of just about every kind of food you can think of, they are upscale, but in a casual sense. Their staff is friendly, prompt, funny and polite. They are happy to explain their dishes, and bring you a taste of the sea or their region’s local ingredients right to your table.
My experience at Thalami was particularly unique because I tasted a plethora of different items they had on the menu. Starting with their spinach-cheese salad (which was to die for), I made my way through turf, then the surf.
Try It All
Their lobster was the most enormous plate of anything I have ever been presented with in my life. This outdid even some American plates in the States. And that’s saying something. The plate was nearly as big as the table – okay, perhaps I’m exaggerating a bit. The point is, you’re getting your money’s worth.
While the lobster may have been the most extravagant thing on the menu, the rest of the items were very fairly priced. Especially considering that you’re not only in one of the most famous places in the world (right in the center of town, no less), but you’re also at a very high-end restaurant.
The best thing I ate there that night? Well, aside from the wine (and the it was phenomenally good), I would have to go with the veal burgers. And no, it’s not what you’re thinking. Nor what I had been thinking either. The veal burgers are not actually burgers. They are a fancier take on a kebab. Pita bread lain on the plate, there are grilled pieces of veal on top, with tomato and yogurt sauce and spices. Yum, yum, yum.
And don’t forget to try their risotto or their baklava. Yeah, their baklava was literally the best one I had in all of Greece. It was smooth, not at all greasy, with all the ingredients put together just perfectly.
Ambiance
So they have great food, but why else should you go to Thalami? As I said before, the location is right in the heart of town. So you won’t need to go far while you’re doing your sightseeing and souvenir shopping. I loved the atmosphere, the decor, the music and the comfort of being at Thalami. The design is sea-oriented, but with a chic slant. Lit candles on every table, they even have posh sofas with pillows to give it that extra touch.
With all these reasons to come to Thalami, there’s none not to stop in for a delicious meal. And when you do, make sure to tell them Lisa sent you!
