Welcome to Aquário Marisqueira, where the high class environment is on par with the high-end items on their menu. With a vast array of seafood dishes on offer at the well-known restaurant, it’s not all about the fish. Perhaps its the restaurant’s long-standing history that adds to the charm and allure which intices crowds. Established in 1954, the restaurant is a family-run business, and is proud of its familiar quality for guests who come back time and time again. For newcomers like myself, the restaurant is the perfect spot to get well acquainted with Espinho as a town, and to really immerse yourself in a local dining experience.
Food
While Aquário Marisqueira is not a place for people seeking a delicious meal on a budget, the restaurant is also not out of reach monetarily for those who don’t order lobster often, either. For example, both the fish and pasta dishes I had the evening I visited Aquário were outstanding and affordable.
Both items were phenomenally good, and I was so happy with the choices I made that evening. Thanks to the waiter who persuaded me to try the grouper, I couldn’t have been more delighted. The pasta I had was almost as good, if not just as much so as the fish. The best meal I had by far the whole three days I was in Espinho was here. The high standards that the restaurant brings its guests with such fresh choices is not to be missed. Because of their attention to taste, detail and quality, there’s no doubt as to why Aquário Marisqueira is as popular as it is.
Ambiance & Location
The ambiance is chic, but not pretentious. The restaurant has a nice balance of fine dining and dressy casual attire, and in addition they are also very friendly. The staff is extremely professional, knowledgeable of their wines (of which they have many), and pleasant in their approach to guests.
The location is also ideal. Situated in the center of town, but just far away from the other more touristy restaurants, you’re in front of the beach and behind the town’s casino. The food, the location and the view are all ideal at Aquário Marisqueria, why wouldn’t you want to go visit?
The Best View in Espinho
And last but not least, the show stopper is the view at Aquário Marisqueira. While there is no question the restaurant’s indoor decor and vibe is elegant but lively, as they are always full, it’s the outdoor seating that you’ll want to reserve ahead of time. You’ll also be able to partake of the most glorious view of the sunset at Aquário Marisqueria. No place has a better front row seat of the stunning sunset in Espinho. And you’ll definitely want the best seat in the house in order to get the best pictures!
Perfect for couples looking to have a romantic dinner on a late Portuguese evening. Superb wine and delicious crab dip can be your companions as you gaze out onto the Atlantic shores. Sip on that wine as pink and orange hues of one of the most incredible natural spectacles you will ever see changes form right in front of you.
The restaurant is usually very busy, both for lunch and dinner, so it’s wise to reserve a table up front. And when you do, make sure to tell them Lisa sent you!
