Step inside a magical past, taste the present, and be a part of the future…

L’histoire
Every story has a beginning, and such is the case for Chateau du Seuil. One might imagine that wineries in France are magical and everything one sees in romanticised films. This chateau is everything you would expect in that dream-like expectation, and more.
Starting out as a simple farm manor even prior to the 15th century, by the 17th century it became a vacation home of sorts for a wealthy family in the area of Provence.
The architecture of the property kept up with the times back then, too. Included in the splendor of the winery you’ll find groves, geometric flowerbeds, a fountain, and a widespread landscape over which just about anyone could be stunned by its beauty and uniqueness.
Present Day

In 2014, the Daussun family took ownership of the chateau, and since then the estate has undergone tremendous changes. Focusing initially on restoring the winery to its original uniqueness and converting it to organic farming, it has adopted some changes as well to make it a more modern-friendly environment. With a tasting room that has windows overlooking the property for example, you’re in for a tremendous view while you sip your vin blanc, and enjoy your small appetizers.
My Experience
Needless to say, my time here at the chateau was highly memorable, and extremely unique. Given that I got a private tour with the winery’s manager as my guide, I was given the full treatment, and there were no complaints on my end. I got to see the vineyards first hand, learn the about the history of the winery and then tour the area where the processing of the wine takes place.
The manager, Richard, was kind enough to spend a large portion of his day explaining the ins and outs of their facility and of course, give me a private tasting of their wines.
And yes…it was everything you would expect a wine tasting at a chateau in France to be like, and then some.
Their wines were exceptionally good and the appetizers helped keep the stomach full to not risk getting too tipsy. The atmosphere was calm, relaxing and having someone explain each wine before the tasting was of course beneficial as well.
The Location and Wines

Given that France is well known for their wines, and that Aix-en-Provence is equally well known as far as towns in France go, the two joining together is a promising opportunity for tourists to visit the South of France when on holiday. And naturally, if you’re in Aix, taking a trek out to this winery should definitely be on your agenda for the weekend. The wines are outstanding, and the location of the chateau simply stunning. Approximately a 20 minute drive from the center of town, grab a cab or a rental and make your way out to this piece of history to, at the very least, touch the past and taste some of the best wines the region has to offer.
Just make sure that when you do book your tasting tour, you let them know that Lisa sent you!
