You’ll never want to leave Torquemada Beach Club… for so many different reasons!
The Beach Club & My Expectations

At first blush, you might see the rooms of this modest beach club and think it’s not worth staying here. I’ll admit, even I thought it was a little humble in nature when I first arrived, with the décor of the guestroom being non existent, and the amenities fairly bare bones. But I was pleasantly surprised with the entirety of my stay here, and for more reasons than one, most of which I was not expecting.

Though the rooms are fairly standard in nature, the rest of the beach club is not. Most specifically their restaurant. But we’ll get to that soon.
The common areas of the beach club are relaxing, well put together and ample in space.

The beach beds are endless and the close proximity from my room to the beach itself was less than a minute walk. Outdoor showers were available, an outdoor bar is available throughout the day and night for all those cocktails you’re most likely going to indulge in; and if that weren’t enough, they have the most delicious chocolate brioches for breakfast every morning, in addition to other pastries and smaller breakfast items to choose from. Don’t forget your amazing Italian espresso either. That’s always a must.
The Staff

Owner, Antonio
Now you may think that because vacationers come and go so often from this place, the owner and his employees might not care that much about their guests – but I would argue just the opposite. The entire staff treated me like family while I was here for several days and nights, and I left feeling sad that I would miss them all. The owner extended genuine hospitality toward me during my stay, and I was very much obliged.
The Restaurant

Now, I must say, no one was more surprised than me that my favorite part of staying at a beach club in Puglia would be the food. On the other hand, let’s be real – we’re in Italy, so it would be a travesty to mess the food up. But the owner (who is also the chef) went above and beyond all the food I ate. My most favorite thing? The Baccala. Fried, with squid ink and carmalized onion. Now. You may say, squid ink? Yes, don’t knock it until you try it. And if you’re going to try it, you must try it here.

Anything and everything I ordered was delicious, including a very basic pasta dish for lunch one afternoon, which was still out of this world.
Your Stay

My time at Torquemada Beach Club was relaxing, slow, peaceful, and serene. The room was comfortable, the drinks smooth and the food amazing. I felt welcomed, and treated like a friend rather than a customer. All things considered, this is definitely a place I would return one day, and likewise recommend it to anyone who is considering visiting the area.

Just remember that when you do book your stay, you make sure to let them know that Lisa sent you!
