Da Saverio Ristorante Pizzeria – San Martino al Cimino, Italy

Anyone on a diet needs to stay far away from Da Saverio Ristorante & Pizzeria. The smells, tastes and textures will keep you at the table for days – no exaggeration!

There are few places that I can say I felt like I was apart of a family by the time my stay ended.  Da Saverio Ristorante Pizzeria and the adjoining upstairs b&b upstairs (La Locanda Cistercense), are places that will forever remain very dear to my heart – even if I was only  there a few days.

The charming architecture, with stone walls and classic Tuscan-like decor, give this humble little restaurant more reason for its guests to stay a little longer.

The patriarch of the family, Saverio, started his restaurant/pizzeria with a hope and a dream. Decades later, his daughter joined that dream by opening  her own business in the same building upstairs – a B&B

The restaurant offers specialty pizzas, pasta dishes and more. With fresh mushrooms that look like they came from a forest in a Disney fairy tale, the salads are just as fresh and delicious as anything else you can think to order off their menu.

With bountiful wine choices here, anything you order will be a wise choice.
Anna, Saverio’s daughter-in-law is one of the sweetest people in all of Italy and will make you feel right at home!

But the main joy of coming here is the hospitality and service – which feels more like a family gathering each lunch and dinner rather than wait staff and customers.

Not only is the B&B accommodating in every facet imaginable, including the most amazing beds, but the restaurant has just as many wonderful reasons to visit.

Just the restaurant alone is worth a trip out here to the sleepy town of San Martino al Cimino, home to just a skosh over 2,000 inhabitants. With a hilly presence, this village, which is located in the region of Lazio, and the province of Viterbo, there’s plenty to do and see in the neighboring areas. For example, take a day trip to visit the Parco dei Mostri, which is a fascinating park. Or, the University town of Viterbo, full of history and culture is another interesting spot to check out.

And because we were so tight during my three day stay, Saverio’s son GianCarlo took me to a spectacular ancient village you must visit while staying here – Civita di Bagnoregio.

Prices at Da Saverio are pretty on par with any other restaurant in Italy, but the high quality of food will make you want to order even more than usual.

Just make sure that when you do stop in to have some of their incredible and fresh food, you let them know that Lisa sent you!
