Lake by Boat is a great company dedicated to allowing tourists (and locals for that matter) rent their own speed boat for the day to tour the world renowned Lake Como. I had the opportunity to try my hand it one afternoon while visiting the town of Bellagio. The owner of the b&b where I was staying took me with one of Lake by Boat’s many vessels.
The owner was kind of enough to explain how to operate it, and then allowed my new friend and I to tour the lake on our own. With wind in my hair at high speeds, I got to enjoy the stunning panoramic views on a beautiful day – even getting to see where certain celebrities live.

In general the tour for the couple of hours that we were out was breathtaking and super relaxing. Prices are slightly high, but nothing out of the ordinary for the area. 1 hour with the boat (no license required and insurance and fuel is included) is 100 Euros. For two hours, you get more of a deal for 170 Euros.
Comfort, affordability, ease and super friendly company to work with in general, you won’t find any reason not to take your own private boat out with them while you’re in Lake Como. Just make sure that when you do rent that boat, you let them know that Lisa sent you!
