In the heart of downtown Elkhart, Indiana, there’s a little tiny hole-in-the wall that has the yummiest health food for miles around. With a genuine heart to keep people healthy and their tummies happy, owner Jenny gives her place a warmth and coziness that most people lose sight of these days.
While it may be in the busier area of town, The Moringa Tree sits quietly peaceful on a downtown street in Elkhart, Indiana. Not that many people may know about The Moringa Tree, or if they do, they may not know what it’s about or how good it is, but they should. With a short and to the point menu, the items available may not focus on quantity, but rather on quality.
The few plates that I tried were absolutely delicious and it was truly hard to believe that they were health food related. The smoothie that I chose was not one that I would have thought would be so delicious – but oh my, was it ever so! While I love avocados as a general rule, I would never have imagined they would work in a berry smoothie. And yet, this was possibly the best thing I had while I was there that day.
With a low-cal, blue chip nacho plate, a hearty whole-wheat bread and egg breakfast sandwich and a couple of other amazing dishes, everything I had was tasty, organic and filled me up. In a non-offensive way, as so many foods do these days.
And while they may offer the best healthy foods in town, Jenny is also a wellness guru. Catering to people’s dietary needs and lifestyles, she sells a lot of helpful products in her little restaurant, and is a wellness coach of sorts.

And the atmosphere? While it may be small, The Moringa Tree is a delightful little step into calmity on our otherwise usually hectic days. Taking a break and relaxing in such a sunny and cozy enviornment is sometimes just what the doctor ordered. That and some organically healthy food to munch on in the process.
I was highly impressed with The Moringa Tree, and can’t wait to visit again the next time I’m in Elkhart. After all, there are still a few other items I want to taste!
Just make sure when you pop in, you let them know that Lisa sent you!
