How did it all start? How did this relatively unknown gal transform such a small place into such a big success? Perhaps it has to do with her natural talent for not only aesthetics, but in business. Or perhaps it has to do with her past work experiences. Past work experiences that would impress just about anyone.
Meet Roxanne LaFemina: From Healthcare to High-End Spa Services
“Before becoming an esthetician, I had a career in health care,” Roxanne tells me as she waxes my legs gently. Yes, gently. Not that many people can make the waxing of hair that delicate, but somehow she manages. I’m not at all surprised that she had previously worked in health care, either. From start to finish I continually told her she should be a nurse. Her tone of voice, her continuous reassurance that everything would be fine. Alerting me before every single rip that it was coming and then to just relax and take deep breaths. These were all indications the woman had either previously, or should move forward work in the medical field.
Though she may not have been a nurse, she was a dental assistant and had always wanted to have a career in nursing. I was not far off the mark. I never am.
“I always liked helping people. But I got married and had children at a young age, so I had to wait for college. But I was always interested in makeup and taking care of my skin.” According to Roxanne, it wasn’t until her divorce that a friend of hers told her about cosmetology school. Suggesting to Roxanne that she should look into becoming an esthetician, the now exceptionally talented skin guru didn’t even know what an esthetician was at the time.
Nevertheless, putting her best foot forward, she sought out the advisors at Paul Mitchell and loved everything they told her about the program.
“I still felt like I was helping people, just in a different way,” she beams.
The Trump Tower Experience: World-Class Training
Originally from Illinois, it was after receiving her certification in the field she finds herself in today, that she received an e-mail from a well known corporation. The spa director located inside the Trump Tower in Chicago had personally reached out to Roxanne. They were looking for a waxing specialist and after having read her resume on Indeed, they approached her for the job. Hired through the company WTS International, they were located inside the Trump Tower.
“My time at the tower was excellent! I really enjoyed my time spent there. Only hiring spa professionals with 5+ years of experience, it was a true honor to be a part of such a great team of professionals. We were trained by Forbes since it was a 4.5-star spa. Our trainers from Forbes have trained spa employees from around the world. I trained other estheticians how to wax with hard wax. I am what they call a speed waxer so I can wax in half the time it takes others to wax all areas of the body on both men and women.”
Learning more and perfecting her trade while at the Trump Tower, she decided after some time there to move on and go into business for herself. With a tenacious and courageous desire to work on her own, she felt confident after 10 years in the business she could make it.

Che Bellezza opened its doors on July 5, 2019. With two others employed by Roxanne, Lianna is the spa’s massage therapist and Mariana is also a waxing specialist. And if you haven’t ever heard of a vajacial, as I had not, then you might want to look into them. They’re the new fad in the aesthetician world, and apparently all the rage with the ladies. A “facial” for your intimate area, it’s the perfect addition to the Brazilian wax, which just happens to be their most popular service.

- Cranial-sacral therapy: $50 (can be added to any massage)

Meet Lianna: The Master Massage Therapist
Massages are also a service that you won’t want to miss out on while you’re there. Lianna will take you away to a world of relaxation with her gentle but firm hands and the sound of calm in the candle lit spa.
Lianna became a licensed massage therapist in October of 2017. When asked how she got interested in the profession, she tells me that she had always had a passion for helping and serving others.
“I am interested in all things holistic, am a yoga teacher, and knew that massage therapy school would be a great addition to the knowledge I already had. Since I was young I always loved receiving and giving massages. I’ve worked in juice bars/health food stores, child care giving, substitute teaching, and then of course yoga instruction before I finally decided to go to massage school.”
Lianna’s specialties include deep tissue/relaxation massage (which is what I had), and Cranial Sacral Therapy. Included in all of the services that Lianna offers at Che Bellezza, are hot stones, hot towels, and essential oils.
“We really care about our clientele, and make sure they’re taken care of!” A great attitude to live by – no matter the business.
She also adds that they are a luxury spa and that all of their products are 100% organic. In fact, their facial serums and creams are direct from Hungary. What a small world! In addition to all that they already offer, CBD oil is available as an add-on to any massage – just let them know what kind of oil you prefer, and they will accommodate.
My Experience: World-Class Service
The Massage Experience
My massage? It was pretty fantastic. The ambiance just right, candles lit everywhere, and soft music playing the entire time, I really had to force myself not to fall asleep. The gentle touch combined with the deep tissue rub when needed was an excellent technique. And a unique one that I hadn’t ever experienced before.
The Waxing Experience
This was quite possibly the most relaxing waxing experience of my life. And I’ve been full body waxing for the past 12 years. Regularly. And I’ve lived in many different countries throughout that time. That means that Roxanne is the gentlest waxing specialist I’ve ever come across. That’s kind of incredible. With her imported Italian wax, she makes the process calm, quick and precise. Detailed but fast, she is an excellent waxer, and doesn’t miss a spot and continuously puts you at ease.
Before even starting on the waxing process in those more delicate areas, she rubs essential oils on her hands (or more accurately, her gloves) and places her hands over the client’s face. Telling the client to close their eyes and breathe in deeply three times, you are already completely relaxed. Coupled with the smell of the oils and Roxanne’s naturally soothing voice, you don’t feel pain throughout the waxing process. Which is really quite incredible, considering how painful waxing really can be.
