The Beach Bar

The Beach Bar – Fort Myers, Florida

Imagine the sand in your toes as you sip on your brewsky or your conveient cocktail – while at a bar. That’s just a taste of what The Beach Bar has in store for you, and you’ll be pleasantly surprised to hear all the other goodies they offer here, at a very affordable price…

If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to put yourself in the middle of a 1960s Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon beach movie you can have your chance at The Beach Bar. Although you’re not going to run into Frankie or Annette, the construction of the bar itself is very reminiscent of many of those old classics, and you feel just as carefree as their characters seem to be in those musicals.

The Beach Bar opened in 2018, but under previous ownership and management it was known as The Beach Pub. A lot has happened in the few short years since the business has changed hands, but the same great environment can be found here. Though Gregory Boyd is the bar’s owner, the managers are Matt and Anthony.

The 2 friends moved to Florida 2 years ago, in search of a new beginning. While Anthony may have spent the past several years working in Higher Education – teaching business courses – Matt on the other hand, has actually lived and breathed the bar scene. With 9 years experience in the bar industry, he Matt has adapted his craft working for a multitude of bars, private clubs and beer distributors.

When asked why they decided to run a bar themselves, Anthony tells me,

“We were looking forward to the challenge of running a business on the beach. The Beach Bar has given us the opportunity to run the business together and use our creativity and business degree’s to maximize the business’ potential.”

A loyal fanbase is always ideal, and sometimes even crucial, when it comes to a small business such as this. But luckily for these boys, their business isn’t just in their local regulars. While they tell me that they have dozens of committed regulars who come in every week to the support the bar, they also have new faces – including tourists – walk in every day.

The Beach Bar also offers live music every day until 6 pm.  So while you’re sipping on your Sex on the Beach, you can be listening to great music with the sand in your feet. Does it get any better or more relaxing than that?

The Beach Bar also offers guests the opportunity to hold events. In fact, the evening I was there, a wedding reception was under way. An ideal spot for your next big day or event, don’t forget to keep The Beach Bar in mind.

One of the most desirable things about The Beach Bar, is their million dollar view with a budget-style menu. Owner Greg apparently likes to keep prices low and affordable – which we can all get on board with. Canned and draft beers start at $3 a pop, while their cocktails and frozen drinks are averaged at $7.

And speaking of drinks…you might wonder how mine were. They were all delicious, thank you for asking. Unfortunately, my favorite was not filmed as I went in the day after I took the video for you all to see (yes, I was so impressed with this place, I went in 3 times in a row).

But, what you will see in the video are four different refreshments (including a Jello shot). My favorite overall was the Tropical Storm, followed by the Coco-Loco.

They’re most popular drink is their signature cocktail, which is the Beach Punch, and their most popular deal is the 2 for 1 Shocktop Draft.

While I’m not a beer fan, they certainly had a great deal of beer there. Plus, as an added bonus, you can join their mug club which Anthony explained is a unique feature of the bar. Buy a mug for $10, stick it up on the ceiling and come in for any type of beer for the same cost for drafts as their regular cups. A steal of a deal, plus you get to keep a part of yourself at the bar as well. What fun!

I love going home with some fun stuff as a souvenir at any place I visit when it’s available, and The Beach Bar did not disappoint. Anthony tells me about all the fab finds you can go home with when visiting the fantastic little beer shack on the beach.

“Our most unique piece of merchandise we offer is the official Beach Bar Cooler Bags.  Visitors and locals alike love to purchase them to keep their drinks ice cold.  We also offer T-shirts, Tank Tops, Sweatshirts, Stickers, and Koozies. We will soon be selling official Beach Bar x Roar Offshore Power Boats racing gear.”  I went home with several items as well, and I am sure my crew-neck sweatshirt is going to keep me nice and toasty this winter in the Midwest, while I dream of my evening spent at The Beach Bar in warm Florida.

So what other reasons make The Beach Bar so unique and worth checking out? Anthony tells me,

“The Beach Bar is a true Parrot Head oasis.  We like to refer to it as the last piece of Olde World Florida on Fort Myers Beach.  We love the simple things in life, ice cold beer, the best live music, and tickets to the best sunset are always free.” How very true. And my favorite thing? The ease and simplistic nature of The Beach Bar. Walking to the beach is pretty straight forward – you’re right on it! Getting to other shops, restaurants, and accommodations is a sinch too, since everything is within walking distance.

Anthony concludes by saying guests should visit The Beach Bar because,

“The Beach Bar’s staff work every day to make sure every guest has an awesome experience! If you love meeting new and friendly people, while listening to the best live music that Southwest Florida has to offer The Beach Bar is your next destination.”

And with that, I have to ask – what are you waiting for? Don’t you want the sand in your toes while you enjoy the warm breeze from the ocean as you listen to live music and nurse that beer? I know I can’t wait to go back. The next time you stop in to The Beach Bar, make sure to let them know Lisa sent you!
