Need some TLC while you’re in The Ozark Mountains? You know, like a special “you” day where pampering isn’t a far off possibility but a very real reality? Then you might want to head to Ozark Mountain’s Day Spa where you will find a long menu of treatments owner Shela has prepared just for you.
The Owner & The Spa
With a seasoned career, Shela might just be the greatest massage therapist you haven’t met. Having traveled the world via cruise ships, her mastery and knowledge of massage therapy is beyond tremendous and extensive. Her execution of that knowledge is even more incredible, and I was one blessed visitor to get to experience her expertise.
Originally from Mountain View, she is a dual licensed cosmetologist/massage therapist, as well as a certified yoga instructor.
“I worked on high-end cruise ships for six seasons. This is where I learned to care for my guest on a more luxurious level. I also received training in many different modalities of massage yoga and facials,” she tells me – after my 90-minute deep tissue massage.
“I recently decided to move home to the Ozark Mountains and open my little day spa here in Mountain View in October of 2022.” Before that, Shela tells me that she owned and operated her own beauty salon for many years as well as a massage clinic in a hospital in Arkansas, working with hospital employees only before traveling and working on cruise ships.
One reason she says visitors to the Ozark Mountains should consider visiting her Day Spa, is,
“…to experience my type of guest service featuring high end service with hometown hospitality.” And she’s right about that. Shela is one of the most humble, and kind people you will meet while traveling around Arkansas – but that’s not surprising. She’s from the friendliest town in all of Arkansas (and possibly the entire country, or even world) – Mountain View. Their customs include being nice and friendly – a foreign concept to most towns and cities in America these days. Even Shela says about her hometown,
“Coming to Mountain View, Arkansas is like stepping back in time. Slower pace, less stress and more smiles.” And I couldn’t concur with her sentiments more. She also assures me that her prices are much lower than in the city. She adds,
“Just another part of visiting our small town in the Ozark Mountains.”

Her menu is also quite extensive, so there’s something for everyone here.
“I offer a large variety of serv0ices from massage, body polish and wraps to custom and luxury facials. I am certified in tons of massage including, but not limited to, Swedish, Lomi-Lomi, sports, hot stones, deep tissue, Thai yoga, and lymphatic massage.”
And I got to experience her fabulous deep tissue and hot stone massage. What can I say? I’m still in a trance. Most specifically she used a technique called the Sole Soother Enhancement. Which is a a scrub, hot towels and hydrating balm massage for the feet.
“I have many products in use here at my spa, some of my favorites are Solvedi Organics; a plant-based pure skin care line from Maine and Alaska glacial essentials; and a pure natural glacial mineral skin care product powered by mother nature that I found while traveling in Alaska,” she offers.
Finally, Shela has a message for those who are interested in visiting Mountain View, and her spa,
“I would like to encourage people to come rest, relax and rejuvenate here in the Ozark Mountains.” And what better way to do that than to get one of the best massages of your life? All I know is, the next time I’m in Mountain View, Shela will be my first phone call.
So what are you waiting for? You know you want to get a deep tissue, a Swedish or even relaxing Lomi-Lomi massage while you’re in the Ozark Mountains. Make it a priority to stop in to see Shela. Just make sure that when you do, you let her know that Lisa sent you!
