Talihina Massage & Healing Arts – Talihina, Oklahoma

The talented owner of Talihina Massage & Healing Arts is one of the most skilled massage therapists you will meet. She will put you in the most hypnotic state of relaxation, you may never want to leave her table!

Owner and friendly massage therapist Julie wasn’t always massaging people for a living. For 24 years in fact, she spent her time as a hair stylist. Making the switch only a few years ago as far as careers go, Julie fell in love with massage therapy at the young age of 19.  Her specialty today is intuitive massage. And granted, I have soreness all over my body, but she was indeed skilled in knowing where exactly to find those spots all over my body.

A native to Oklahoma City, she moved to Talihina in 1986, one year before graduating high school.  And while hair was where her profession remained until recently, she always wanted to go into massage therapy. Finally, after expressing to her husband what she wanted to do and attending a school to become certified, she was ready to live out her dream.

Meeting Michael Lieberman, the owner of Hootie Creek Historic Hotel, he offered a spot inside the hotel where she could start and run her own private massage business. Michael, who is also a client of hers, encouraged her talent, and saw the business opportunity to have her working inside of his hotel simeltaneously. They both prayed about the possibility of her coming to work at the hotel, independently, and several weeks later she was unpacking her equipment and filling appointments with new clients.

And while she tries to limit her clientele to roughly no more than 25 people per week, her success speaks to how naturally gifted she is at her craft. With a long list of options to choose from, Julie does an array of massages, facials, and even offers a dead sea salt exfoliation.  In addition to all of this, she is also a wellness advocate for do Terra essential oils.

Her goal is to help people find good health and to execute a harmony between physical health and an emotional well being.  She consistently explained during my massage that she enjoys finding the balance in energy between herself and the client and meeting their health needs.

She informs me too that,

“The spa will open later this summer and our first healing retreat will be September 15-16, 2023.

From massage, foraging and meditation in the woods (it’s all magical), sound healing, and many other things as well.”

All in all my massage with Julie was very relaxing.  Her friendly personality make it difficult not to enjoy spending time with her and her persistent desire to help heal and make her clients feel better, is of course, an important quality in any massage therapist.
