D’s Burgers: A little bit of America in the heart of Santorini.
New and Cool
Want to take a break from Greek fare while in Greece? Probably not, no, but if you’re an odd duck like me, then you’ll be over the moon when you find out about this 1950s American diner. Right in the center of Thira, the capital of Santorini, D’s Burgers offers low cost food with the highest quality ingredients.
This essentially being their first season, D’s Burgers has already started off to great success. Even American tourists compliment the owner on having great burgers – and as we all know, there’s no greater compliment an American can give a foreigner than on their hamburgers.
The owner tells me that when her grown sons would come to visit during the summer, there was nowhere to get a good burger. They came up with a solution: offer affordable, delicious burgers with everyone in mind. Not just tourists, but locals alike are frequent customers of the establishment. And during the non-summer months, the majority of their clientele are in fact locals on the island.
High Quality Service at Low Costs

What does D’s Burgers offer? Freshly ground beef, French-fries which are hand-cut every day and fried in super high quality oil. Coupled with this, they also serve Caesar salad, chicken strips, tequila margaritas and delicious Greek beer. How can you go wrong? If this weren’t enough to entice you, the diner’s decor is ’50s themed. Even the music is non-stop 1950s American tunes. Elvis, Jerry Lee, and everything in between can be heard here.
My favorite thing about D’s? Everything! From the food to the drinks, to the music and the ambiance in general, I felt like I was in some small way transported back to the greatest era of the States – the ’50s! But perhaps the best thing about the diner is the incredible staff. The nicest guys you could ask to serve you work here, and they deserve all the praise they can get! From dicing to cooking, to keeping the restaurant spic-and-span to welcoming and serving custom Prices are more than reasonable, with burgers averaging around 5 Euro apiece, if you order everything off the menu including drinks you will find it difficult to spend more than 20 Euro. And you’ll leave full too, don’t worry. With a generous selection of burgers, each one is presented with its own “flag” sticker. The Mexican burger has a Mexican flag, the Greek burger has its Greek flag and so on and so on.

And if you try nothing else here, don’t leave without at least tasting their signature truffle mayonnaise. Oh my gosh, I would fly back to Greece just to taste that again.

So the next time you’re in Santorini and you’re looking for a fast, inexpensive and absolutely delicious place to have your lunch or dinner, try D’s Burgers. And definitely make sure to tell them that Lisa sent you!
