Margherita di Savoia may not be the first town that comes to mind when thinking about Italy – or the second, or the third, or even the fourth or fifth. Don’t worry, I lived there for over a decade and had never heard of it either. But the sleepy town in the southern region of Puglia does have more going for it than you might think, even kite surfing.
I had the opportunity to visit Horizont one day, and the owner and his staff took me out on the water to attempt to teach me how to kite surf. I’m not athletic at all, which you can watch for yourselves in the video below.
But the owner did a great job taking me around himself after I fumbled, stumbled and fell over countless times into the water. Head first, backside first, sideways first – all the ways, I fell in and in and in over and over again. If nothing else, I got very well acquainted with the sea.
The next time you’re in Margherita di Savoia and are looking for a fun activity for the day, maybe you should check out Horizont Sailing School. Just make sure that when you do, you let them know, Lisa sent you!
